JSBians-Speak:
It was not just any other day for us; it was a day we were looking forward to eagerly, for we were going to play host to 33 students from the Panchayat Union Middle School, Perumanallur. The students from the government school entered the premises of JSB with a sense of trepidation. They were accompanied by the HM of the school, and a teacher.
However, the moment they entered our classroom, they immediately felt comfortable. The room was so colourfully decorated, and there were so many pictures of cartoon characters inside, that they were able to straightaway relate to the environment. We started with a prayer song, and there was a talent show, which included singing, drawing and reciting of poems.
During the forenoon, we, along with the students, spent quite some time on the computers, learning to play stimulating games, and learning to draw colourful pictures. After a very hearty lunch in the afternoon, the sessions were peppered with a variety of activities: greeting card making, screening of a cartoon movie, games with paper cups, a fashion show with old newspapers, and a jubilant photo shoot.
It was a very satisfying day for all of us, and we will remember this day forever.
