Mr.Ruben Thomas started his lecture saying that though Human species has been in existence for long, many inventions that we use today were invented in the last two centuries and therefore we live in a fast growing scenario; to cope with it we need to work more. He suggested students to lea Mandarin for better inte ational career prospects. He said that the need for HR professionals has been going down unlike in Sales & marketing where jobs are in plenty.
Mr.Ruben said that tier two companies are emerging as successful and asked students not to feel bad to work in tier two companies. He said that final project will show the capability of the students and companies will recruit on the basis of that. So, the students should put in their best efforts in their project.
Mr.Ruben asked the students to improve communication skills and develop self-confidence. Mr. Ruben suggested the students not to choose jobs based on salary but to select based on the lea ing opportunity.

Mr. Ruben started his lecture by comparing people manning roles in sales and distribution with the frontline staff of Air force, and highlighted the important role of Distribution in Business. His emphasized that distribution network, once created, will give a great competitive edge for the company as a whole and it is very difficult for the competitors to break it. His lecture covered topics like Channel conflicts and policies bringing in his experience from companies like Pepsi and Vodafone. It was a freewheeling, interactive lecture-cum-discussion.

The session touched on exte al environment and focussed much on inte al environment. Mr.Bhat connected Darwin’s theory of ‘Survival of Fittest’ to strategy. He discussed on why to use inte al analysis, value chain and how inte al analysis adds value. The session also covered formulation, analysis and evaluation of strategies. The session was full of energy, informative and interactive.

Four rounds were conducted which consisted of deciphering HR jargons, pocketing the balls into a glass in a minute, arranging the scattered pieces of a picture related to a HR term and the last round was a Role-play.

Prelims were conducted to shortlist the teams and finally six teams were selected and three rounds were conducted. The rounds were based on Banking, stock and insurance.
