According to him, Mahatma Gandhi and Bill Gates are the best management gurus because they walk the talk and know the strategy of marketing. When a product is good, it will be the best player in the field. Change is a must for all the industries without which it cannot survive and he gave the example of Onida, which is the only TV product which still is in the market, whereas other older brands got completely wiped out. The secret is to know how to change according to consumer preferences.
Mr Selvaraj was of the opinion that India is still not a competitive country. The Indian customers, especially in textiles, never prefer brands. So, the struggle in the industry is to know how soon to reach the customers and sell their brands. Textile industry is the one which is making huge profits and will also make more in the future. He pointed out that despite the fact that Indian markets are non-competitive, the value propositions given by each market is a different one, which every business must take note of.
