The Harmony club conducted the Mock Assessment Centre on 13.09.2009. The Assessment centre comprised of seven rounds across management verticals. Forty students from 2009 and 2010 Batch participated. The process began with an Aptitude test and Ended with a Personal Interview.

Description:

The Third event of MARC was Inte ational Marketing Quiz conducted on 01-09-2009.  24 teams registered for the event.  To screen the final five teams, there was a preliminary round on 31st August.  The quiz was conducted by Prof. D. Swamy.  There were 6 different rounds of questions for the teams.  Each team had their own ups and downs.  The entire quiz program was marked by thrill and fun. The winners were Jafar Ali Biswas, Arpan Kharga, Saravana Kumar (1st Prize) and Nikjil Chandran, Akila C V, Saravana Kumar (2nd Prize).

Description:

The first day agenda of the Induction Programme for 2011 Batch conducted by 2010 Batch included a graphic presentation, introducing JSB, its Vision, Mission, Quality Policy, Physical and Intellectual Infrastructure in terms of amenities and academic strength, various committees working in the areas of Marketing, Finance, HR, Entrepreneurship, etc.  This was followed by student-wise introduction by 2011 batch.

The Programme of the day ended with a two-hour cultural extravaganza organised and conducted by 2010 Batch - a joyous way to end the first day and a great way to start their life-altering jou ey at JSB!

Alfa Club made its great start for the academic year 2009 and 2010 with a visionary thought of preparing its members in taking wise financial decisions, by giving an opportunity for the members to prepare and give a presentation on issues of contemporary importance in the field of Finance.  The list of topics presented was:

• Volatility in Foreign currencies with respect to exports.
• Gold Price Volatility
• Negative Inflation
• Bank Securitization
• Disinvestment in Public Sector units in India
• Inte ational Monetary Fund
• Effect of removal of entry load in mutual funds

The teams which presented on "Disinvestment in Public Sector units in India" and "Negative Inflation" won accolades.  Kudos to the winners!

Description:

The second event of the MARC was Promotion Misfire conducted on 17-08-09.  The participants were asked to make a presentation on real life business firm whose communication strategy had failed in the market.  They were also asked to propose corrective measures assuming the role of a advertising agency.  The winners were Dinesh Kumar, Victor Stanley, Keerthi Varshini, Karthick. N, Arun Rajesh (1st Prize) and Lini Susan John, Nandhini A, Anjali Jain, Preetha, Aishwarya (2nd Prize).

Description:

On August 3rd, 4th and 5th, the 2010 batch of MBA graduates witnessed a workshop of a different sort.  Mr. Paul Mathew of Corporate Theatre, Chennai conducted the workshop for the three groups of second year JSBians.  This is a theatre-based 'lea ing' methodology which ensures that future managers and entrepreneurs understand and appreciate the need for making work fun, and lea ing essential for success.  The most interesting and important take away for the students was that lea ing took place in a stress free milieu and there was 100 per cent engagement in trying to decipher the nuances of team work, situational leadership and powerful communication.

The first event of the MARC was Marketing Quiz which was organized on 10-08-2009.  Six teams were short listed for the finals.  The teams were given virtual money and were allowed to bid before each question.  The rule was that the teams that answered correctly would get the invested money doubled, failing which the same amount will be deducted from their account.  The event was exciting from the start to the end.  The winners were Nithya, Jafar Ali Biswas, Nikhil Chandran, Venkatesan K, Arpan Kharga, Ashwin G Menon (1st Prize) and Manhar Sethi, Santhosh Kumar, Deepak Kumar, Uday Banu Mishra, Kumar Gaurav, Gagan Kumar (2nd Prize).
